22 days later... 😱
Did you miss the routine radness in your inbox? ; )
November has been a wild month in so many ways. I'm penning this issue aboard a Hannover bound IC train for a 15 year high school reunion with people I spent a year attending school with in Germany my senior year.
And I'm turning 33 in two days! Speaking of birthdays: Twotone turns 3 in 2 weeks: twotoneams.link/birthdayparty3 Hope to see you there!
November has also been about new perspectives & old blind spots.
A number of personal & professional challenges & opportunities required a double take. Amidst all the reassessment, I came across this quote:
"The Eyes are Useless When the Mind is Blind" – unknown
"As a result of this kind of social and empathetic cognitive deficit, an individual [with mind-blindness] is incapable in putting himself "into someone else's shoes" and cannot conceptualize, understand or predict knowledge, thoughts and beliefs, emotions, feelings and desires, behaviour, actions and intentions of another person." - wikipedia
I wrote about empathy in Issue 44 & Issue 26 but that certainly doesn't mean I don't have blind spots.
"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." – Wayne Dyer
2018 will be about being better at catching those blind spots proactively and helping others do the same. Perhaps learning how to hurry slowly will help. ; )
as always, thank you for reading,
Jon

100 - Portraits of cyclists in Berlin
On my bike tours through Berlin I meet cyclists who illustrate an eclectic and colorful picture of the bike culture in the main city. Whether hip or alternative, Kreuzberger or Neuköllner, policeman, messenger or chimney sweep, I invite them as protagonists to my photo studio, on the first floor of my building, to be portrayed by me – cycling or balancing on their machines.
